I already have a left thumb joint that eventually needs to be replaced due to arthritis as well as de Quervain's tenosynovitis and I also already have the corresponding leftI wrist brace which works well. Now that my right thumb joint is exhibiting the same symptoms, I purchased the "right" wrist brace on the recommendation of my orthopedist I wear the "right one" at night for sleeping. I do find these braces a bit hard to really clean well. I have very small wrists and do find the velcro straps a bit annoying. However, I do find the straps fit well over a light turtleneck or long sleeved shirt and still will keep my thumb aligned. (For me these braces are a good "stop-gap" measure as I will need surgery on both wrists eventually.)
